HISTORY: (wiki) Canberra United Football Club is an Australian football (soccer) club that competes in the W-League, the national women's competition. Based in Canberra, the club was formed in 2008 for the league's inaugural season. Canberra is the only team in the league that is not affiliated to a men's A-League club, although a team in the National Youth League from Canberra also competes (being the AIS). In their first season Canberra were runners-up, defeated by Queensland in the final.
The primary club colour of Canberra United is green, chosen principally since it did not clash with the other seven clubs in the inaugural competition. They are the second elite sporting team from the city to wear a green jersey after National Rugby League club, Canberra Raiders. This has led to some cross-promotion between the two 'green machine' teams.
The Canberra United badge depicts the flagpole of Parliament House, a symbol of Canberra.
The Canberra United fans are known collectively as 'Capital Punishment', and are based on the western hill of McKellar Park. Supporters groups within these numbers include "Capital Hill", "Green Leprechauns" and "The Binbag Army"
Canberra United had the highest attendance in the W-League in the inaugural season with an average crowd of 1029.

STADIUM HISTORY: (wiki)

ANU Willows Oval at the corner of Barry Drive and North Road in the suburb of Acton. Willows Oval was named after the long line of willow trees that run alongside the eastern side of the oval towards Sullivans Creek and Toad Hall (ANU). Willows is centrally located, adjacent to Civic in the heart of Canberra.
Willows Oval, which was once a single patchy grass football field, was replaced in 2010 with two new state-of-the-art synthetic sports grounds that are environmentally friendly and have been awarded a FIFA RECOMMENDED 2 Star certificate. These two pitches are Desso Ambition artificial grass, a surface composed of monofilament fibres that does not require watering, saving 15 megalitres of water per year. Moreover, Willows Oval now incorporates a 500 kilolitre underground water storage system (Stormtech) that harvests rainwater from the two playing fields for re-use in the surrounding landscape. The resurfacing of Willows Oval was made possible by a $1 million grant from the Commonwealth Government and is in step with the ANU's environmental management plan.

STADIUM HISTORY: (wiki)

Jubilee Oval (sometimes referred to as Kogarah Oval) is one of two home stadiums used by the St. George Illawarra Dragons team, a rugby league club that plays in Australasia's National Rugby League. The R2K (Return to Kogarah) entity was instrumental in ensuring that NRL matches were played at Kogarah from 2003 onwards. Until 31 October 2008, the ground was known as OKI Jubilee Stadium, when OKI Printing Solutions naming rights contract expired. On 15 January 2009, Jubilee Oval was retained in the new sponsored name of WIN Jubilee Oval.

Located on the Princes Highway in the Sydney suburb of Carlton, it originally hosted its first game of rugby league sometime in 1936 when the Dragons defeated the Newtown Bluebags in an exhibition match. The stadium has undergone several constructions over the years and one is still being planned for the foreseeable future. The first official game was played on 22 April 1950 in which the Dragons lost 17-15.
Jubilee Oval currently stands on part of the original grant of 87 acres (350,000 m2) awarded on 23 December 1853 to Archibald McNab. Edmund English purchased the grant on 23 May 1854 for around 400 pounds. It officially became known as Kogarah Park when it was acquired by the Department of Lands on 1 July 1896 and dedicated as the first public park in Kogarah. Control of the park was eventually passed to the Council of the Municipality of Kogarah on 29 August 1906.

The Sydney Olympic football (soccer) club, who played in the now-defunct National Soccer League (NSL) competition, played at this ground in the 2003/2004 season. This season was the NSL's final competition at the top level, before the introduction of the A-League in 2005.

On 4 December, 2011, Win Jubilee marked the first time the A League played a first grade competition game at this venue, with Sydney FC playing Brisbane Roar. Sydney won 2-0, and this game itself would be remembered as the game the Roar lost its first match in the last 36 matches.

The ground record attendance for Kogarah was set in May 1975 when St. George took on South Sydney in front of 23,582 fans. In its modern form, the record attendance is 20,847 when the Dragons took on local rivals the Cronulla Sharks in March 2009.
